Description
Not marked as to maker but all signs or manufacturing traits aim experts in the field to attribute this musical movement to have been made by David Lecoultre of Brassus, Switzerland, before joining his brothers firm in Geneva. The movement bears the typical 4-digit serial number, this being "7583" followed by numerous 2-digit parts assembly numbering, this being "39", which would date the piece to about 1840. The cylinder pinning is in excellent condition (no damages or losses) and the very fine musical comb has 113 teeth. To the right side of the governor, the typical stop/start finger has a completely original extension, which may well have signaled that this movement was intended to be installed within a large French musical painting, picture frame, shelf or bracket clock, where the timepiece could trip the music to play when needed. There's no tune program card, but one can tell that tunes #1 & 2 are 1st & 2nd parts of the same air.See & listen to the video clip:
